One of the highlights of this year's Paris Motor Show is the unveiling of the new Ferrari F430, the 360 Modena successor, that will be available with the exclusive run-flat tire option of Goodyear Eagle F1 GSD3 EMT.
The Ferrari F430 with its innovative Goodyear tires is on display at the Pininfarina booth 314 in Hall 1 at the Paris show.
The new Ferrari F430 will be equipped with Goodyear Eagle F1 GSD3 EMT 225/35ZR19 (front) and Goodyear Eagle F1 GSD3 EMT 285/35ZR19 (rear).
The Goodyear Eagle F1 GSD3, the award winning top performer of Goodyear's high performance tire range, is the perfect match for Ferrari's latest creation. With its 4300cc 90-degree V8 engine Ferrari's new F430 takes four seconds to reach 100km/h (62 mph) from a standing start and reaches a top speed of more than 315 km/h (196 mph).
"A car with such performance needs to be equipped with the best tires on the market. We are proud that Ferrari chose the Goodyear Eagle F1 with run- flat technology," said Jean Jacques Wiroth, European director of Original Equipment Sales and Marketing for Goodyear.
"The Eagle F1 provides excellent performance for the F430 and at the same time Goodyear's run-flat technology guarantees the highest possible level of safety should the driver have a puncture," he said.
Goodyear run-flat tires can be safely driven after a puncture or total loss of pressure. The reinforced sidewalls consist of an innovative rubber that bears the weight of the car even when the tire is totally deflated and keeps the tire on the rim.
The Eagle F1 GSD3, with its striking V-shaped tread design and OneTRED technology, continues to set the standard among tires in its class. It has captured the top spot in key consumer magazine ratings, won several technology awards and captured countless tire comparison tests in Europe. Recently the Eagle F1 received the Editor's Choice Award for New Products from Popular Mechanics magazine and two leading U.S. consumer magazines named Goodyear's Eagle F1 line the top-rated ultra-high performance choice in their recent tire-featured issues.
Goodyear is the world's leading manufacturer of run-flat tires. It pioneered commercially available run-flat tires on the Chevrolet Corvette during the mid 1990s, and sold more than 2 million run-flat tires on 18 vehicle fitments through the end of 2003.
The company plans to sell 1.4 million run-flat tires in 2004 and has been selected for prestigious cars such as the Corvette, Cadillac CTS-V, various BMW models, the award winning Mini, Mercedes-Benz high performance cars, Maserati and other brands. Goodyear has supplied more run-flat tires for original equipment and replacement markets than any other tire manufacturer.
Additional Goodyear run-flat tire fitments could be on the horizon, as the company's designers at its Technical Centers in Akron and Luxembourg are working with multiple auto manufacturers on more than 100 run-flat tire projects.
