Abstract:
The presentation will cover specific aspects of the failure analysis process for members of the legal profession, including upfront procedures and analytical techniques used in failure analysis (FA) investigations for product liability, personal injury, subrogation, and other types of legal cases. The webinar will begin with the following discussion of typical steps taken before engaging experts: goal definition, information and evidence gathering, photographic documentation procedures and ASTM standards involved with legal investigations. The speaker will compare and contrast legal case investigations with conventional failure analyses. Then, using illustrative case studies, the speaker will discuss expert witness opinions about root causes for the failures.
At the end of the webinar, there will be time set aside for the speaker to answer questions submitted by participants.
