PPG Supplies Green Glass for Expo 2010 in Shanghai

PPG Industries (NYSE:PPG) has supplied "green" products in support of World Expo 2010 in Shanghai, including low-emissivity (low-e) glass and low-volatile organic compound (VOC) coatings for expo pavilions as well as waterborne paints to protect more than 1 million square meters of elevated roads near the event.

The U.S. pavilion features Solarban(R) 70XL glass from PPG, the world's first triple-silver-coated, solar control low-e glass. Solarban 70XL glass transmits 64 percent of the sun's natural light while blocking 73 percent of its solar energy, making it 20 percent more energy-efficient than competitive products. The glass helps to save energy, cut costs and reduce the cooling equipment requirements for buildings where it is installed.

As the exclusive sponsor of coatings for the France pavilion, PPG provided super-low-VOC, low-odor Seigneurie(R) Inotex(TM) interior coatings to decorate and protect all 150 square kilometers of its interior walls without negatively affecting air quality. PPG experts helped to choose the white, red, gray and black colors used to evoke the theme of "The Sensual Cities."

Additionally, IVY(R) waterborne wood coatings from PPG protect wood in the U.S. and France pavilions as well as the China and Russia pavilions.

Besides the products it provided for World Expo 2010 structures, PPG supplied Seigneurie Supersoytex(TM) waterborne paints to mark and protect more than 1 million square meters of main elevated road around Shanghai that were upgraded to support increased traffic during the event.
