The Siemens Industry Solutions Division has won a contract from the Chinese ChenMing Paper Group to provide drive systems for two new paper machines and one new tissue machine in China. They will be installed at the production sites in Shouguang and Zhanjiang. The order is worth more than eleven million USD and commissioning of the new paper machines is scheduled for spring 2011.
The ChenMing Paper Group is one of the biggest Pulp & Paper manufacturers in China, mainly sales and producing coated paper, board paper, news print and pulps. In order to increase market share, the company is currently upgrading its pulp and paper mills in Shouguang and Zhangjiang. For the Zhanjiang production line in Guangdong province, Siemens is supplying Sinamics drive systems. This includes the drives and motors for the PM1 (paper machine) with annual production capacity of 750,000 tons of High-class copy paper, the two winders and the new PDM 1 (Pulp drying machine). A Sipaper Drive Controller based on Simatic PCS7 is responsible for drive control of the machines. For the second factory in Shouguang, Shandong province, Siemens will also provide sectional drives equipment, including the drive systems for the new TM1 (tissue machine) and the PM6, for two winders and two super calendars. The project also includes all motors and sectional drives. Moreover Siemens will supply the automation system with the Sipaper drive solutions based on Simatic PCS7. The TM1 is scheduled to produce 98,000 tons tissue paper per year; the PM6 will be able to manufacture around 800,000 metric tons of coated paper a year. The drive system application to be used is part of the Sipaper solution specially developed for the pulp and paper industry. Siemens will also be responsible for the engineering, commissioning, as well as supervision and on-site and office training of the operating personal.
