Ashland Release New Range of Color Gel Coats for Boats

Ashland Composite Polymers, a business group within Ashland Specialty Chemical, a division of Ashland Inc. has released a new boat MACT-compliant line of color gel coats. MAXGUARD® 33LE color gel coats feature Ashland's patented LE (low emission) technology and are formulated for use in marine applications.

"MAXGUARD 33LE color gel coats have 33 percent maximum hazardous air pollutant (HAP) content, ensuring boat MACT compliance with the added benefit of reducing blushing over standard marine gel coat formulations," said Andrew Beer, global marine market manager, Ashland Composite Polymers. "These gel coats also have improved weathering and excellent application properties. Available in custom color matches to meet the color trends of our customers' products, this is another example of how Ashland continually innovates to provide value to the marine market."

Ashland Composite Polymers will highlight its line of MAXGUARD 33LE color gel coats, as well as other gel coats and resins for the marine industry, at the International BoatBuilders' Exhibition and Conference (IBEX) trade show, Oct. 25-27, in Miami Beach, Fla.
