Eaton Supplies Sensor Fuel Tubing to Andersen Air Force Base

Diversified industrial manufacturer Eaton Corporation announced today that it has been awarded new business at Andersen Air Force Base in Guam.

Eaton’s Hydraulics Group is supplying Andersen Air Force Base with sensor fuel tubing for use on 14 hydrant refueling trucks that refuel aircraft.

Made at Eaton’s Industrial Hose Solutions facility in Guelph, Ontario, the 100 percent KYNAR® tubing is highly chemical resistant to jet fuel and withstands the tropical Guam climate.

“To my knowledge, this is the first time Eaton or any other manufacturer in the industry has extruded KYNAR® tubing for this application,” said Geoff Pantling, Eaton market development manager. “The tubing’s ability to transmit the temperature and pressure of the jet fuel being conveyed makes it an innovative fit for the application.”

The sensor fuel tubing previously used on the trucks cracked due to the hot environment and penetrating ultraviolet rays, resulting in premature hose failures and hazardous fuel spills.

Andersen Air Force Base made the decision to replumb all its refueling trucks with Eaton’s tubing solution and Aeroquip® fittings following six months of flawless duty during on-the-job testing.

“The tubing remained extremely flexible throughout the testing process and in excellent condition, making it the obvious solution,” Pantling said.
