Spire Corporation (Nasdaq: SPIR), an American global solar company providing equipment and turnkey manufacturing lines to manufacture photovoltaic (PV) modules and EPC services for solar systems, announced it is celebrating the opening of a PV Module Manufacturing Plant established by Wanxiang Solar, a Division of Wanxiang America Corporation, located in Rockford, Illinois.
Roger G. Little, Chairman and CEO of Spire Corporation will attend the Grand Opening Ceremony of the Rockford Solar Panel Plant, today, August 17, 2010 beginning at 11:15 a.m. (CDT). Mr. Little will join the Wanxiang Team, the Governor of Illinois, as well as the Mayor of Rockford. The Ceremony will take place at the 40,000-square-feet, solar module manufacturing plant, where it will employ over 60 local workers.
Mr. Little said, “This factory shows the growth of solar manufacturing in the United States (U.S.), especially as it relates to foreign manufacturers locating production facilities here in the U.S. The Wanxiang factory will create local jobs to help stimulate the U.S. economy, supporting the growth of the PV industry in the U.S.”
Mr. Little continued, “Spire Solar Systems, has additionally entered into discussions with Wanxiang in order to explore the opportunity to develop a ‘preferred vendor’ relationship such that our EPC systems group may purchase, when appropriate, modules manufactured by Wanxiang. Our Systems Group requires the highest quality and value from its module suppliers, and we are confident of attaining this from manufacturers utilizing Spire supplied equipment.”
Mr. Pin Ni, President of Wanxiang America Corporation, said, “We have been established in the U.S. for many years and we are expanding into the solar industry. We chose Spire for our equipment line because of their international reputation, and as a domestic manufacturer we can be assured of their support.”
