Following successful audits on August 16, 17, 18, and 19th, Stork Twin City Testing of St. Paul, Minnesota, has moved another step closer to being 7th independent Stork laboratory to achieve Nadcap approvals in the United States. Stork TCT is seeking approvals for liquid penetrant testing (PT) and magnetic particle (MT) testing, both of which are non-destructive testing methods used to examine materials and components without damaging the test sample.
What is Nadcap?
Nadcap (formerly NADCAP, the National Aerospace and Defense Contractors Accreditation Program) is a global cooperative standards-setting program for aerospace engineering, defense and related industries. According to the Performance Review Institute, Nadcap is "the leading worldwide cooperative program of major companies designed to manage a cost-effective consensus approach to special processes and products and provide continuous improvement within the aerospace and automotive industries." Nadcap accreditation allows Stork TCT to provide specialized testing programs to aerospace and defense industries and help them to evaluate their components, forgings, castings, fasteners, valves, and base materials.
Adding capabilities to the Minnesota market
Michiel Graswinckel, Stork TCT General Manager said, "It was a challenging four-day auditing process and I am very proud of the performance of our Quality team and Nondestructive Testing department. We have a well-organized and expert staff and they were up to the task.
"The next move is to wait for official Nadcap approval documentation from PRI and then to immediately begin testing for our clients who require high-level accreditation. These include aerospace and aviation customers, but also customers in automotive, biomedical, and other manufacturing industries. We look forward to being able to support our customers who need Nadcap work by mid-September, if not sooner."
Larry Culbertson, Stork Materials Technology's Director of NDT Technology, said, "Stork TCT performed exceptionally well in their initial audits for Penetrant and Magnetic Particle Testing. Coming through with zero major findings is an outstanding achievement and speaks to their professionalism and attention to detail. The NDT department at Stork TCT was ready for this challenge and their customers will benefit from the the excellent practices in place in the lab."
