Bath Iron Works Receives Contract to Build US Navy Destroyer

Bath Iron Works, a division of General Dynamics has just been awarded a US$464 million contract to build DDG 102, an Arleigh Burke (DDG 51) class destroyer by the US Navy.

Bath Iron Works are the lead designers for the DDG 51 class destroyers. This contract is expected to be one of a series of 7, that Bath expect to build.

The contact to build DDG 102 was originally awarded to Northrop Grumman Ingalls Shipbuilding, but was taken on by Bath as part of an exchange programme between the two yards involving the DDG destroyers and LPD amphibious ships.
