U.S. Bellows, Inc., an expansion joint manufacturer, designed and fabricated two metallic expansion joints measuring 55' long x 14' 6" wide on an expedited schedule. The expansion joints were fabricated from COR-TEN ASTM 588 carbon steel and are designed for 1.2 PSI at temperatures up to 748°F. They were designed for an axial compression of 1.53 and a lateral resultant movement of 1.843.

The expansion joint is to be used in a hot flue gas application at a power plant in Texas. The entire assembly was shipped to the customer as one single unit. This avoided having to splice weld the expansion joint into one piece, which saved the customer countless assembly man hours in the field.
