New Clarified Polypropylene Packaging from O.Berk

O.Berk Company, a full-service supplier and distributor of glass and plastic containers, closures, pumps and sprayers for the pharmaceutical, healthcare, cosmetic, personal care, food and beverage, and household and industrial industries, is pleased to offer a proprietary process that adds color to clarified polypropylene (PP).

This colorful alternative to stretch blow PET provides the same glossy aesthetic at a substantially reduced developmental cost that can be up to 80% less expensive.

The outstanding benefits of this O.Berk process include the ability to change design, shape or neck finish as a result of easier mold changes and the option to incorporate a true handle or other unique design features. This aesthetically appealing packaging creates a strong shelf presence with significant reduction in up-front mold costs compared to stretch blow PET and, in many cases, price per piece when compared to PET.

From a sustainability perspective, clarified PP provides lightweighting opportunities because of its lower density and functions well as an alternative to PVC, with similar barrier properties. Because of its strength and flexibility, PP also possesses excellent environmental stress cracking resistance properties and produces the least amount of greenhouse gases per thousand pounds in comparison to most other plastics.

According to O.Berk Account Executive, Bruce Nadler, “Substantially lower development costs, environmentally friendly properties and a high-gloss aesthetic that make this packaging shelf worthy provide a rare combination of attributes that make clarified PP the perfect packaging option for the beauty/personal care and household/chemical markets.”
