Starting in 2011, Springer will publish Gold Bulletin as a SpringerOpen e-only journal through the sponsorship of the World Gold Council (WGC). Under this publishing model, the entire contents of the Gold Bulletin will continue to be fully and immediately open access, available to anyone with an Internet connection.
Previously published exclusively by the WGC, this premier international peer-reviewed journal discusses the latest science, technology and applications of gold.
Published quarterly, Gold Bulletin includes peer-reviewed papers on the latest research advances, state-of-the-art reviews, conference reports, book reviews and highlights of patents and scientific literature, all focussed on gold. The journal has been published for over 40 years as a multidisciplinary journal read by those both within industry and academia. Editor-in-chief Dr. Richard J. Holliday, Director, Technology at the World Gold Council, is supported by an editorial board comprising leading scientists and industrialists involved in gold research.
"It is a pleasure for us to collaborate with the WGC in the publication of the Gold Bulletin. This multidisciplinary journal definitely brings a plus to the Springer program in Materials Science", says Dr. Mayra Castro, publishing editor at Springer-Verlag in Heidelberg.Dr. Holliday said, "With so much cutting-edge science and technology related to gold, we have considered how best to publish leading research work that is accessible to the widest possible audience. With this challenge in mind, we have signed an agreement with Springer to facilitate the publication of the Gold Bulletin starting in 2011. Our journal will benefit from Springer's wider distribution channels and academic publishing expertise."
Based in London, the World Gold Council is a commercially driven organisation, focussed on creating a new prominence for gold. The WGC is the leading source of independent research and knowledge on the international gold market and on gold's role in meeting the social and economic demands of society. The WGC represents the world's leading gold mining companies, who produce approximately 60% of global corporate gold mining production and is committed to playing a key role in the development of a truly sustainable gold mining industry.
