Despite the floundering home construction business one small company on Alabama’s Gulf Coast is enjoying a surge in interest and sales.
Villa Lagoon Tile has expanded its floor tile product line to include ceramic backsplash tiles.
Colorful and decorative backsplashes to kitchen and bathrooms have been widely used in recent years to add a personal touch to homes. Villa Lagoon Tile a specialty floor tile company has taken it one step farther to include custom made tiles that depict places and other works of art.
“Delft tiles has been the most popular of all the backsplash tiles so far,” says Lundy Wilder, CEO and designer for Villa Lagoon Tile. The ceramic accent tiles were added to the company’s tile inventory to compliment their cement floor tile designs. “Kitchen designs are personal and reflect the home-owner’s personality, so we wanted to provide an opportunity for clients to coordinate our floor designs with backsplashes,” Wilder states.
The company’s seaside themes play a major role in the Delft tile designs and have been very popular primarily in New England and along the eastern seaboard. Wilder’s clients have used the tile to create a memory or used as a tribute to the home. “We have a woman on Cape Cod who used our mermaid tiles in a backsplash design as a tribute to her four daughters. We also have a client on Hilton Head hire us to design a Deflt-style map of the area for her kitchen,” recalled Wilder.
Villa Lagoon Tiles has also created custom tiles for fireplace surrounds and bathrooms. Other tile styles and designs include: Art-Deco, Art Nouveau, Biblical, and Relief designs. The tiles are available in three sizes: 4.25, 6, and 8 inch. The tiles are durable and can be customized for commercial use to create a theme for restaurants, bars and coffee houses.
