L-com, Inc., a leading manufacturer of both wired and wireless connectivity products, now carries plastic optical fiber (POF) cable assemblies with the HFBR interface attached. L-com carries simplex and duplex versions, in both latching and non-latching connector types.
HFBR connectors are common in the automotive, industrial control, medical and gaming equipment industries. They are a ideal match for plastic fiber, which is generally more durable than glass fiber and has a much larger core size making it easier to terminate and providing more bandwidth over short distances.
“We found the HFBR interface difficult to acquire in our industry,” said Steve Smith, L-com’s product manager in charge of fiber optic products, “but it is an important interface for many products and services. Providing HFBR cables makes our product line that much more complete.”
Along with the off-the-shelf lengths, L-com will be manufacturing custom lengths of these cables with short lead times.
