As more producers look to package their products in BOPP bags, Anduro Manufacturing is expanding its Durofab™ BOPP packaging line to accommodate the new applications. Now the company has announced the industry’s first double-fold bottom BOPP bag, specially developed for pet food producers.
“The double-fold bottom replaces the sewn seam which is standard in BOPP bags,” explained Anduro CEO and President Marc Datelle. “The double-fold is particularly appropriate for high fat content foods. Fat could permeate a sewn area, which could compromise bag integrity as well as create potential for infestation.”
Double folding also improves the shelf appeal of the packaging. Instead of a sewn tape at the bottom of the bag, the bag can now carry graphics at the bottom so the design or presentation can run continuously from front to back.
Datelle indicated that Anduro can innovate and create new products to accommodate specific customer needs because the company has designed its plant in Honduras to be able to produce a variety of products efficiently.
“Because our plant in Honduras maintains a substantial labor force, we are able to produce new bag styles like the double-fold bottom very efficiently,” Datelle offered. “So we can create new products or modify products specifically for a particular customer without having to make costly plant modifications that would create additional costs for our clients.”
In November 2010, Anduro announced an innovation that substantially reduced turnaround times on customer orders. Anduro localized material sourcing and production in the Americas, enabling the company to deliver completed bags to a client within 45 days of an order. The new double-fold bag is another innovation that allows more producers to migrate from traditional paper bags to BOPP packaging and benefit from its superior strength and graphics support.
“Customers want options and need their BOPP supplier to be more flexible than this industry has been in the past,” explained Anduro Vice President of Sales Douglas Smith. “Things like customized bags, less-than-full-container shipping and shorter turnaround times are keys to allowing producers of feeds, seeds and similar products to capitalize on the advantages of BOPP packaging without sacrificing flexibility or efficiency.”
