Maximum Machines Presents New Packaging Line for Folded and Glued Outserts

In January 2011, Maximum Machines UG presented a new designed packaging line for folded and glued outserts in cardboard trays.

It is the first machine in the world running fully automatic with this kind of products. The customers are printing companies who are producing pharmaceutical leaflets with a paper weight between 38 and 60 g/m². The so called outserts are an extreme challenge. Out of a single sheet they fold a product of about 170 panels with a size of approx. 1 1/4x 1 ¼”. These products will be applied onto bottles in the later packaging process.

Outsert in cardboard tray - full automatic process

The new machine TS 160-400 exceeds the speed up to 15.000 cycles per hour with a range from 1“x1“ (25x25mm) to 4“x6“ (100x150mm). The maximum thickness of a single outsert is 10mm. The length of the tray is maximum 400mm.

With this new machine inline with the folding line the output can be 50 to 100% higher than it actually is. No additional people is needed. The capacity is up to 200 trays per hour. In the process a 100% quality inspection is done automatically and an exact count is obviously before getting stacked into the trays. Inside the trays we can keep a certain pressure to keep the outserts flat and even which is important for the following packaging process. To reach the maximum performance an automatic cardboard erector is available. Using this unit the operator is free for loading the round pile feeder and for other work.

The TS 160-400 tray stacker allows a better performance in output with an affordable floor space requirement parallel with increased quality aspects and no additional operators. Especially customers who run their production lines in multiple shifts and struggle against the cost situation showed an immediate and quick response.
