INVISTA, global manufacturer of fibers, chemical intermediates and polymers, is highlighting a recently developed product for the personal care market segment at INDEX11 in Geneva, April 12-15.
This product, branded as T837 LYCRA HyFit™ fiber, is the most recent innovation by INVISTA for the hygiene industry and is unlike any previous version of LYCRA® XA® fiber.
T837 LYCRA HyFit™ fiber is a breakthrough spandex fiber for hygiene applications that is based on the existing Type-262 LYCRA® XA® fiber formulation currently offered by INVISTA. This product simultaneously reduces fiber-to-fiber tack without negatively impacting creep performance. With lower take-off tension than Type-262 LYCRA® XA® fiber, LYCRA HyFit™ fiber can improve the consistency of package delivery with less opportunity for tension spikes. This exceptional product offering also makes it possible to explore reductions in glue add-on rates to further reduce manufacturing costs. LYCRA HyFit™ fiber is designed for continuous running, which can provide significant cost savings by minimizing downtime and fully utilizing each package down to the core. It may also be used as a replacement for rubber with two to three times less material required to achieve comparable retractive force. LYCRA HyFit™ fiber is available in both white and blue with additional colors available upon request.
Since the early 1980s, babies and adults have experienced the comfort and fit benefits of LYCRA® fiber in their personal care products. LYCRA HyFit™ fiber is a distinct product specifically designed to meet the needs of customers in the hygiene industry as it offers excellent stretch and recovery for a gentle fit around the legs, while it also allows garment designs to be thin, quiet and discreet.
“As one of the world’s top providers of stretch solutions for disposable diapers, adult incontinence and personal-hygiene products, INVISTA remains committed to innovation and growth,” says Robert van de Kerkhof, global vice president of stretch performance materials. “We continue to invest in enhancements and expansions to our production capabilities that more efficiently provide INVISTA’s specialized, high-value LYCRA® fiber products to our customers around the world.”
