MiTek, Inc. has completed the purchase of Battery Technology Group from Teck Metals Ltd., a subsidiary of Teck Resources Limited. The Battery Technology Group has been part of Teck’s Product Technology Centre (PTC), located in Ontario, Canada.
The Battery Technology Group has evolved into an internationally recognized business, known for innovation in the development of lead strip casters, rotary expander lines, and other related battery grid technology for lead-acid battery production. As the world’s leading supplier of continuous high speed SLI plate making technology, they represent about 40% of the world’s installed SLI plate capacity.
BTG will be managed by TBS Engineering, Ltd, the MiTek subsidiary headquartered in Cheltenham, UK. “We are delighted to bring this talented group into the TBS family,” said Laurie Gardiner, Managing Director of TBS, “Their track record for innovation is a great fit with our successful, efficient business operations.”
