The rolling mill is designed for an annual production capacity of 1.38 million tons of heavy sections and rails. The mill will place Handan Iron & Steel Company in a position to meet the requirements of a growing market for long products used in transport infrastructure.

Handan Iron & Steel Co. is part of Hebei Iron & Steel Group Co. Ltd., one of the leading steelmakers in China with a total annual production of approximately 40 million tons. In 2010, Siemens also equipped a rod mill and a wire mill of Handan Iron & Steel with electrical and automation systems. Orders for the erection of a five-strand combi-caster and for electrical systems of three BOF converters are currently being executed.
