Global supplier of ultra-performance materials and chemistries, Avantor Performance Materials, has proclaimed that it has formally changed the brand name of its chemical products from Mallinckrodt Chemicals to Macron Chemicals.
Avantor announced its plans to change the Mallinckrodt brand name on November 15, 2010. Since then, the company has taken efforts to convey the message to its customers through its standard Management of Change method. J.T.Baker is another brand name of Avantor’s products. The company’s products are extensively utilized in quality control, academic and research laboratories, photovoltaic and electronics production, pharmaceutical and biotechnology production.
According to the company, only the brand name of the products has been changed and not the line of products. The Macron product series is similar to Avantor's previous Mallinckrodt series, comprising sugars, minerals, salts, solutions, acids and ultra-pure solvents. The new Macron brand line are manufactured in the same plants and carry the same lot numbering system, product names and product numbers as that of the former Mallinckrodt brand. Paul Smaltz, Vice President of Global Marketing of Avantor, commented that there is a possibility that customers could get products with Mallinckrodt labels, as changeover at the supply chain level would take some more time.
