MeadWestvaco’s Mebane-Based Packaging Plant Earns Chain of Custody Certification

MeadWestvaco, a global provider of packaging solutions to various industries, has announced that its packaging facility in Mebane, North Carolina, has received Chain of Custody certification from Forest Stewardship Council (FSC).

The Mebane operation has also earned a certification from Sustainable Forestry Initiative (SFI). The dual third-party certifications are awarded after verifications of MWV’s green fiber sourcing practices. These validations help ensure MWV’s responsible environmental stewardship.

The Mebane plant delivers printed packaging materials to various pharmaceutical businesses worldwide. It is a part of MWV’s healthcare packaging business.

MWV Healthcare’s chief science officer, Ted Lithgow stated that the FSC and SFI certifications are highly valued in the healthcare market. They represent the company’s business as truly global and customer friendly. He added that the certifications provide the required guarantee to the company’s stakeholders, who need assurance about environmental stewardship application into healthcare solutions.
