Technology conglomerate, 3M proclaimed that it has expanded the production capacity of its Optically Clear Adhesives (OCAs) at its facilities in Singapore, China, Taiwan and Korea in order to meet the growing demands in the consumer electronics market.
The OCAs are utilized in consumer electronic products such as e-readers, touch displays, tablets and smart phones to improve their aesthetic appeal and bonding of touch sensor. 3M OCAs provide better clarity and adhesion and eradicate yellowing, a common problem with competitive translucent substrates. Its ultra-speed lamination capability facilitates mass production of consumer electronics.
3M can customize its adhesive technologies to facilitate the development of sophisticated electronics quickly and effectively. The company’s OCAs and display products improve the performance and worth of the consumer equipment. The company plans to increase its coating production capacity for OCAs by three fold during the first and third quarter of 2011. The company has also invested in its converting capacity as well as in its Optically Clear Liquids. 3M has planned to make investment in OCA products beyond 2011.
