Provider of silicone-based products and technologies, Dow Corning has introduced a new line of silicone-based formulations such as sun creams, leave-in hair conditioners and skin moisturizers, under its XIAMETER brand for skin and hair applications.
Dow Corning’s sun creams contain XIAMETER PMX-200 Silicone Fluid 5 CS, while the leave-in hair conditioners have XIAMETER PMX-200 Silicone Fluid 350 CS and XIAMETER PMX-200 Silicone Fluid 60,000 CS. Skin moisturizers contain XIAMETER PMX-1184 Silicone Fluid.
The Global Marketing Manager for XIAMETER at Dow Corning, Michael O'Callaghan, stated that the XIAMETER brand standard silicone fluids allow formulators to produce numerous hair and skin products. The unique characteristics of silicone assist personal care goods to offer protection for a longer period.
Silicones in conditioners and shampoos safeguard hair and add smoothness, shine, control and volume. Incorporating silicones in sun creams and skin moisturizers allow them to spread more over the skin and thus give optimum protection from harmful ultraviolet rays. Silicones also provide a non-sticky, soft feel to the skin.
