The Victorian Center for Advanced Materials Manufacturing (VCAMM) and Deakin University have chosen Despatch Industries to deliver a pilot-scale carbon fiber production line at the new Australian Carbon Fiber Research Facility (ACFRF).
Despatch Industries provides thermal process technologies for the manufacture of carbon fibers. Construction process of the ACFRF is being carried out at the Waurn Ponds Campus of Deakin University in Geelong, Victoria. The ACFRF is the first research facility in the world to focus on carbon fiber advancement. The facility’s objective is to enhance the quality of carbon fiber materials and expand its usage in different markets.
The Global Carbon Fiber Sales Manager at Despatch Industries, Ken Defiel stated that the company is happy to be chosen as the supplier of integrated line equipment by the Deakin University and VCAMM. The facility will develop new carbon fibers for the worldwide carbon fiber market utilizing Despatch technology.
Brad Dunstan, Chief Executive Officer of VCAMM, stated that Despatch’s advanced carbon fiber technology and high-performance carbon fiber production machines are the major factors behind the company’s selection. The research facility will provide sophisticated carbon fiber technology and will mark Australia as the center for new carbon fiber materials.
