Soraa Purchases Plasma-Therm Systems for Wafer Production Process

Provider of laser and LED technology solutions, Soraa has bought three systems from Plasma-Therm to perform etch and plasma deposition processes in its wafer production line.

Soraa produces a new range of lasers and LEDs for projection display and general lighting applications. In order to meet the growing demand, the company is expanding its production capacity in the United States.

Plasma-Therm provides sophisticated plasma processing systems that offer deposition and etch technologies. The company’s products are utilized in several sectors, including compound semiconductor, photomask, MEMS, thin film head and solid-state lighting.

VERSALINE ICP, VERSALINE PECVD and 790+ RIE are the three systems purchased from Plasma-Therm. The systems offer major front-end processing technologies, including active material patterning, dielectric, and metal and dielectric deposition that are important for the development and manufacturing of advanced photonic products.

Lasers and LEDs are widely used in major applications, including industrial, defense, biotechnology, displays and consumer lighting markets and thus their demands are also growing continuously.

According to Ed Ostan, who is serving as Executive Vice President of Sales and Marketing at Soraa, the company has placed new orders based on its encouraging experiences with Plasma-Therm and its processing equipment.
