The Quartz & Ceramics Division of Momentive Performance Materials has started the capacity expansion of its specialty quartz manufacturing plant located in Hebron, Ohio.
The Quartz & Ceramics Division’s capacity expansion plan will allow it to meet the growing demands for its specialty fused, ultra-pure quartz materials utilized in computer chips production. The expansion project, worth $5.4 million, includes the construction of a new production area measuring 8,600 square foot and the deployment of modern equipment. Once completed, the Hebron facility will have 30% more manufacturing capacity for large-diameter fused quartz tubing.
The company produces a wide range of products for microchip production, including solid ingot that is used for processing silicon wafers to produce microchips, large-diameter fused quartz rods and tubing, and fused quartz crucibles utilized to grow silicon ingots.
The Hebron facility is the main location for large-diameter fused quartz tubing production and quartz fusion technologies. The company markets the tubing to its global customers who produce innovative 300 mm wafer processing furnaces.
The Quartz & Ceramics Division produces products for numerous industries such as the electric vehicles, specialty and LED lighting, solar energy and electronics. The division is also expanding its production facility located in Strongsville, Ohio.
