Vantem Composite Technologies, LLC, a privately held composite building materials company, has acquired EH Systems - one of the nation's largest manufacturers of Structural Insulated Panels (SIPs). EH Systems had been producing SIPs for a wide range of uses including residential, multi-family and light commercial construction. The company will be operating under the name Vantem Panels and will be a member of the Vantem Composite Technologies family of brands.
"This was an important acquisition for Vantem Composite Technologies and will provide significant bandwidth and capability to produce and distribute durable, energy efficient SIPs for the residential and commercial building industry," said John T. Preston, CEO. "The quality assets and select staff from EH Systems will enable Vantem to ramp SIP production immediately."
In addition to being a leading provider of SIPs, EH Systems was known for its role in providing wall and roof SIPs for the popular program Extreme Makeover Home Edition which aired on ABC on April 4th 2010.
SIP technology in homebuilding simplifies the construction process and makes it more controllable, efficient and reduces cycle time. Research indicates that SIPs can save about two-thirds of a building site's framing labor for walls and roof, with corresponding reductions in build cycle time. SIP homes are also more energy efficient and airtight when compared to traditional stud constructed homes, with reductions of nearly 70% in air leakage while consuming 4 times less BTUs.
Along with a 103,000 sq ft. high-tech production facility, Vantem also acquired EH System's distribution and storage facilities. The facility is located in New Braunfels, TX along the I-35 San Antonio-Austin corridor. In addition to providing traditional SIPs for domestic homebuilding operations, Vantem Composite Technologies is also developing innovative new composite technologies that will initially be used for providing low-cost housing in developing and rebuilding countries.
