SABIC Innovative Plastics has introduced two new resin materials, Cycolac and Geloy, for interior automotive applications. These two innovations help worldwide automotive clients to improve vehicle performance and aesthetic appearance to consumers and also solve the wear and tear issues of the vehicle interiors.
The Cycolac is an acrylonitrile-butadiene-styrene/polycarbonate (ABS/PC) resin material that prevents wear and cost issues associated with inferior paining. It is ideal for low-gloss automotive parts. The Geloy is a polycarbonate/acrylonitrile styrene acrylate (PC/ASA) material that offers permanent anti-static properties for interior components.
The Cycolac DL100LG low-gloss compound is suitable for automotive tiers and OEMs. It provides the cost and environmental advantages of paint-free approach and offers elegance and low-gloss appearance. The Cycolac resin eliminates the need for painting process and thus reduces the impact of volatile emissions in the environment as well as the manufacturing costs. It has superior quality appearance and exceptional material properties such as resistance to heat and impact and offers higher dimensional stability. The low-gloss material can find applications in door entry steps, consoles and trim components.
The Geloy HRA170D Compound helps to maintain the clear and fresh appearance of automotive interiors. The material prevents dust unlike conventional materials that do not resist dust. The company offers the Geloy resin in different colors to eliminate the issue rising from color pigment loading, which can affect the anti-static properties of automotive components. The Geloy compound can be used in interior mirror housing, trims, overhead consoles and others. The new compound is created using SABIC Innovative Plastics’ Geloy HRA170 compound, a material used for automotive interior trim parts.
