Momentive Performance Materials and Zhejiang Xinan Chemical Industrial Group announced that they have planned to expand the siloxane production capacity of their joint venture firm, Zhejiang Xinan Momentive Performance Materials.
The JV firm is located in Jiande, China. Zhejiang Xinan owns 51% in the JV, while Momentive Performance Materials owns 49%. The Chinese facility produces nearly 50,000 metric tons of siloxane annually.
Siloxane is used as a primary material in the production of silicones that have applications in several industries, including healthcare, power & utility, construction, electronics, automotive, textiles and personal care.
It is expected that the expansion of the plant’s capacity will triple the annual siloxane production rate to 150,000 metric tons, starting from 2013. Momentive Performance Materials will invest USD32 million, while Zhejiang Xinan will contribute USD33 million for the expansion. The planned expansion is the second phase of development.
The establishment of Zhejiang Xinan Momentive represents the success of Momentive Performance Materials and Zhejiang Xinan and both companies will continue to progress in their relationship.
