INVISTA, one of the leading spandex producers in the world, has increased the production capacity of spandex fibers by expanding its venture facility in Foshan, China. The expansion will add about 12.5 kilotons and increase the total spandex production capacity to 24.5 kilotons per year.
INVISTA, along with Foshan Plastics Group, has made an investment of over $227 million on the venture plant. Currently, the facility operates four manufacturing lines that produce spandex fibers for various textile processing applications.
The Foshan plant is one of the world’s largest spandex facilities and uses advanced production technology. The site has also been honored with the “Safety Manufacturing and Fire-fighting Excellence Award” by Foshan government.
The company plans to establish a China Textile Research Center in Shanghai’s Qingpu district to develop and commercialize new fibers, garments and fabrics. INVISTA is also engaged in airbag fiber facility expansion work in Qingpu and is progressing in the nylon intermediates and polymer plant construction project in Shanghai.
Recently, INVISTA has launched a new line of commercial garments made from LYCRA beauty fabrics. The company has also introduced additional LYCRA fiber products for active outdoor wear, intimate apparel, ready to wear and swimwear in various events across Asia.
