Airgas has acquired an Indiana-based company, Pain Enterprises, who manufactures and distributes CO2 and dry ice across the Midwestern U.S. Pain Enterprises serves several industries, including hospital, food and beverage and chemical.
The Pain Enterprises’ business is now a part of Airgas Carbonic and Airgas Dry Ice operations. In addition, the acquisition also includes a dry ice facility in Muscatine, Iowa; bulk dry ice and liquid CO2 manufacturing plants in Riga, Michigan and Hopkinsville, Kentucky; and 17 bulk dry ice and liquid CO2 distribution warehouses in Wisconsin, Indiana, Illinois, Minnesota, Michigan, Ohio and other states.
The Pain Enterprises purchase considerably expands Airgas’ liquid CO2 and dry ice operation across the Midwest. Airgas sees increased opportunities to expand its Penguin Dry Ice brand in new geographic areas, immediate extension of Carbonic manufacturing capabilities, further growth for dry ice and liquid CO2 and more support for reliable sourcing of carbon dioxide for Airgas National Carbonation business.
