Pecora, producer of elastomeric sealants for the construction industry, offers a cost-effective alternative to conventional method of repairing joint sealant failures.
The Sil-Span silicone compound avoids the expensive process of removing the failed sealant and prevents damage to building substrate caused by surface preparation. It also reduces the cost and time required to repair exterior insulation and finish systems (EIFS).
The silicone profile provides an easy and effective way to rectify failures in areas where resealing and replacing is not possible. Complex building areas include coping stones, reglets, flashing details, roofing details, skylights, stucco and curtain-walls.
Pecora’s Sil-Span is modified into preformed or custom shapes to connect the existing joint and solve waterproofing issues in the building envelope and preserves the original aesthetics. The low-modulus silicone compound offers a number of benefits. For instance, color and texture of the material can be customized to fit any finish, does not create any EIFS substrate damage and is easy to apply. In addition, the compound reduces labor costs and offers features similar to advanced silicone technology such as minimal dirt absorption, high resistance to tear, UV rays and weathering and 200% movement capability. The Sil-Span complies with ASTM C 1523 standard.
