Thresher Industries to Enhance ThermaLite Alloy for Use as Enclosures

Thresher Industries, a company that provides design, prototype development and complete engineering support to a wide range of industries, including automotive, defense, aerospace, agriculture and transportation in Europe and the U.S., has been awarded a $60,000 worth purchase order by an automotive company based in California.

Thresher will enhance its ThermaLite alloy, which will be utilized as enclosures that need high thermal conductivity. Thermal conductivity needs and target dates are specified in the purchase order to bring the ThermaLite into production.

Successful accomplishment in the automotive application will provide new opportunity for Thresher Industries in the first tier automotive market. The company will deliver fully tested metal matrix composite materials and the related data to its customers before commencing production.

The purchase order comprises metallurgical testing and sample batch preparation. Once the initial testing is completed, Thresher Industries will receive an order for tools to pressure cast the heat sink and manufacturing components. The production orders are expected to generate revenue of about $200 to 300K per year. The ThermaLite metal composite can be used in both electric and hybrid vehicles.
