Dunn-Edwards, a premium paint manufacturer, has opened a new paint manufacturing plant in Phoenix. The facility will be the first center in the world to get the gold LEED certification.
The 336,000-square-foot building comprises production, quality control and product development labs, a distribution center, an office space and a retail outlet.
According to Karl Altergott, who serves as President at Dunn-Edwards, the company integrated advanced, energy-saving protocols and equipment, including unique wastewater recycling methods and innovative dust collection systems to capture and reprocess particulates. The deployed systems are categorized as low discharge solutions that reduce waste production significantly, he added.
Altergott further said that the plant saves nearly 50% of energy when compared to the company’s other facilities. He claimed that the plant’s advanced automation is a complete system that saves resources, money and time. The facility has 50% more space than the total area of the two existing facilities and could be expanded to another 40,000 sq. ft., he added.
