Momentive Performance Materials Holdings declared that its subsidiaries, Momentive Specialty Chemicals and Momentive Performance Materials, will establish an advanced Global Research and Development Centre and a regional business headquarters in Bangalore, India.
Momentive’s subsidiaries produce materials and specialty chemicals, including adhesives and coatings. The new facility is being constructed on a 2-acre site located in the second phase of the Electronic City in Bangalore and will accommodate 125 staff. Construction of the facility is expected to be completed during the Q1 of 2012.
Researchers at the facility will develop new products and technology platforms for current and new applications in numerous industries such as construction, automotive, electronics, healthcare, energy and personal care. Moreover, the facility will also accommodate the companies business and commercial support operations.
At present, Momentive has its warehousing operations in Chennai and regional headquarters in Bangalore. According to the Chairman and Chief Executive Officer at Momentive, Craig O. Morrison, the investment in new research centre and regional headquarters in India shows the company’s dedication to clients in the region.
The new Bangalore facility will be an important addition in the company’s worldwide network of strategically located research centres to support advancements for global customers.
Momentive Performance Materials’ Chief Technology Officer, Dr. Eric Thaler commented that the company is happy to establish a state-of-the-art facility for its researchers in Bangalore.
