NOVA Chemicals, a manufacturer of chemicals, plastic resins and end-products, has declared plans to develop its polyethylene technology. The growth plans, referred as NOVA 2020, will help meet the growing demand for feedstock in North America.
The company has commenced the feasibility and engineering studies to construct two new polyethylene assets in Ontario and Alberta. The studies are expected to be completed by mid-2012. The new polyethylene assets include a NOVAPOL technology-based linear-low density production line and a line based on SCLAIRTECH technology.
In addition, NOVA Chemicals will carry out studies to debottleneck the low-density polyethylene production line at its facility in Mooretown, Ontario. The debottleneck work and polymer asset extensions will be carried out between 2014 and 2017. NOVA Chemicals’ plans to expand its technology and market status in North America are supported by International Petroleum Investment Company (IPIC).
The development of NOVA Chemicals’ SCLAIRTECH technology capability and proprietary gas-phase capacity will help meet the needs for superior polyethylene products and provide real value to the company’s customers.
