Bepex International has partnered with Thanh Tai Gas Company, a small gas extraction service company based in Vietnam, to design, produce and supply the first BePET plastic bottle recycling system.
BePET is a new series of plastic bottle recycling equipment that has received FDA approval. The system will enable Thanh Tai to recycle about 1.5 billion PET plastic bottles per year.
The unique feature of the BePET plastic bottle recycling system is that it enables simultaneous control of both product intrinsic viscosity and plastic decontamination by processing plant operators. In addition, the system lowers the operating and capital expenses and saves nearly 60% when compared to existing recycling systems.
Plastics with low intrinsic viscosity can be utilized for fiber applications, while high intrinsic viscosity plastics can be utilized for tire cord applications. The system can be used as a sustainability initiative and it recycles PET plastic flake in a cost-effective manner by maintaining final product quality.
The BePET line has been developed to carry out flake-to-flake recycling process for bottle-to-bottle (BtB) applications yet its flexibility allows the production of products ideal for applications such as carpet and fiber.
The first line of the Bepex system will be installed in Vietnam by January 2012, while the second line will be deployed later to manufacture a variety of intrinsic viscosity plastics for a wide range of applications, including food packing industry.
