WACKER, a chemical group based in Munich, has announced that it will display the ELASTOSIL LR 3066 line of liquid silicone rubber at the 2011 FAKUMA, an event for plastics processing and will be held in Friedrichshafen, Germany from 18 to 22 October.
The liquid silicone rubber improves the production of food dosing valves. It has very low-friction-coefficient surface properties. Another important feature of the ELASTOSIL LR 3066 line is the connected silicone slits or surfaces do not heal during the post-curing process.
The ELASTOSIL LR 3066 line includes three types of transparent liquid silicone rubber types. They can be shaded in any colors. The liquid silicone rubber inhibits adjacent silicone surfaces from reacting with one another during successive heat treatment. This effect supports the production of silicone moldings with required slit-shaped openings.
WACKER’s ELASTOSIL LR 3066 product line is developed using a new formulation concept, which gives a smooth surface to the cured rubber. The food-grade liquid silicone rubber has 50% to 70% lower friction coefficient than standard silicones and this can help during components assembly, as friction can obstruct installation of silicone components. Reduced friction also enables easy discharge after injection molding.
The ELASTOSIL LR 3066 range meets the food standards of the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA), the French Arrêté du 25 novembre 1992 and the Federal German Institute for Risk Assessment (BfR).
