The Heraeus Photovoltaic Business Unit recently completed constructing a new facility for the production of silver metallization paste used in crystalline solar cell applications in Singapore.
Heraeus recently participitated in the Intersolar North America and received a great deal of interest from customers about the opening of this new facility. The site, which includes Manufacturing, R&D, Sales and Technical Service, began operations in June 2011. The R&D lab in Singapore was completed in early July with qualification samples to be released to the customers soon. An official opening ceremony for the Singapore facility is scheduled for November 2011.
In the month of December in 2010, personnel were hired for the R&D and Production Departments, after which they underwent full-time training at the Pennsylvania facility in West Conshohocken. After the training, they staff began working at the new site in Tuas. The company was thrilled to extend its presence in Asia and work closely with their Asian customers.
According to Andy London, who is the Vice President of Heraeus Materials Technology LLC in West Conshohocken, the new site was constructed mainly to expand their production capabilities in the Asian market and also create a third leg of their worldwide R&D footprint. The company has tripled its technical staff all over the world and also wants to continue to expand all through 2011by adding more staff.
