LANXESS, a specialty chemicals company, has entered into a supply agreement with Triangle Group, one of the leading tire companies in China, for top-quality halobutyl rubbers at Triangle’s headquarters in Weihai, Shangdong province. The agreement has been signed by Triangle Tyre’s Senior Vice President, Lin Bin and LANXESS butyl rubber business’ Global Head, Ron Commander.
Under the terms of the agreement, LANXESS will supply the material from 2012 to 2014.
LANXESS has been delivering regular and halobutyl rubbers to Triangle for over 10 years and the new agreement will enhance their relationship.
Lin stated that Triangle has received a consistent supply of premium butyl rubber from LANXESS, which will help the company to meet the growing global demand for tires. Major products from Triangle include off-the-road tires, truck and bus radial tires, light-truck tires and passenger tires.
Halobutyl rubbers are utilized by the automotive and tire manufacturers in the tire inner liner, which is the humidity and air impervious layer of a tubeless tire. The materials maintain constant tire pressure for a long time. They ensure that vehicles consume less fuel and produce less harmful emissions and are safe.
LANXESS develops, manufactures and markets specialty chemicals, intermediates, rubber and plastics. Currently, the company is represented at 46 production locations globally.
