A pioneer in the development of innovative packaging technology, Pakit announced that it has partnered with PepsiCo to create a new and renewable packaging. Pakit has developed a transformative technology that enables production of recyclable, compostable and sustainable packaging for consumer products.
PepsiCo, one of the largest food and beverage companies in the world, focuses on innovation to overcome sustainability issues. Pakit’s President, Dwayne Yaretz stated that the company is happy to receive the opportunity for demonstrating their breakthrough technology that can satisfy the packaging standards.
Pakit has been designing, enhancing and confirming the commercial capabilities of the technology for the last 10 years. The technology can convert cellulose fiber into biodegradable, recyclable molded board that can be used as a replacement for the existing plastic and foam packaging. The board produced using the technology is thinner and produces a finer and smooth exterior surface that is resistant to grease and moisture, which considerably enhances the printing quality compared to competitive products.
Pakit’s innovative technology offers a possibility to produce products with complex shapes without any cracks or deformation. The products range from compartmental trays, clamshells and plates for the food industry applications to protective packaging for the pharmaceutical and electronics sectors. These products can be made using different recycled natural and virgin fibers and can be used in freezer or ovens.
