Flow Polymers, an Ohio-based company, announced that it has secured a Phase I Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) award from the National Science Foundation to create innovative nano-filler technology for application in tire innerliners.
Flow Polymers’ President and CEO, Mr. Michael Ivany commented that the company is delighted to receive the support from the National Science Foundation and the funding worth $143,984 will enable the development of a new nanotechnology solution. The solution will act as a platform for the company’s growth and new product innovations in the further years to come.
Currently, the worldwide demand for energy-efficient vehicles, improved driver safety and decreased carbon dioxide emissions is increasing. Hence, there is high requirement for innerliner materials with improved barrier properties in the tire industry. The nano-filler technology from Flow Polymers will help to meet these requirements along with various other benefits. It simplifies deployment for the company’s clients and has less environmental impact.
