Stora Enso has awarded a major contract to Sweco, an international consulting group having experience in consulting engineering, architecture and environmental technology, as a part of its investment in a new paper machine at the Ostrołęka Mill in Poland. The total worth of the order is about SEK 50 million.
To boost the paper production for use in corrugated packaging products, Stora Enso will invest € 285 million to install a new paper machine. The paper machine will use recycled fibers as raw materials. The packaging products will be used in the paper and pulp mills across north western Poland. The new machine will have a production capacity of approximately 455,000 t per year.
Sweco’s work includes fire protection engineering, HVAC, automation, electrical, piping, layout and process. The project will be mainly performed by Sweco’s Finland division and local sub- engineering firms will also support the work. The project will take nearly two years to be completed.
Sweco Industry’s President, Kari Harsunen stated that it is the second major order received in a short period and they are delighted for being selected by Stora Enso to enhance the production volume at the Ostro³êka Mill. This also represents an indication that the market is growing after a long time, especially in the pulp and paper industry in Europe.
