To eliminate the complexities associated with loose tea preparation, Adagio Teas introduces the ingenuiTEA teapot made with dishwasher-durable, tough Eastman Tritan copolyester. Tritan is a new-generation copolyester that provides a balance of properties, including clarity, durability and heat and chemical resistance. Tritan also is free of bisphenol A (BPA).
"Despite the superior flavor and health benefits of gourmet loose tea, casual tea drinkers can often be daunted by the seemingly difficult task of loose tea preparation," said Michael Cramer, marketing manager, Adagio Teas. "IngenuiTEA simplifies not only the brewing process, but also the cleanup with a tough, lightweight dishwasher-durable infuser."
The ingenuiTEA teapot made with Eastman Tritan copolyester features an innovative filtering system that is activated once the teapot is set atop a cup. Loose tea and warm water are placed together in the teapot, then are separated by a removable mesh filter when a valve on the bottom of the teapot is opened, releasing tea that is free of sediment.
Adagio Teas switched production of the ingenuiTEA teapot from polycarbonate to Eastman Tritan copolyester due to the material's BPA-free qualities. In addition, Tritan is heat- and chemical-resistant, so the ingenuiTEA will not crack, craze or whiten after exposure to dishwashing environments, allowing the teapot to maintain its clarity so users can easily see when the steeping process is complete. Also, because Tritan is tough and lightweight, the ingenuiTEA teapot provides an aesthetic, functional way to brew tea at home or while traveling.
"Adagio immediately recognized the BPA-free and heat-resistant benefits of Eastman Tritan copolyester as essential traits for the ingenuiTEA teapot, but we also quickly identified the value in the durability and clarity of Tritan that enables even further ease of use for our customers," Cramer said. "Utilizing a novel material like Tritan for the ingenuiTEA helped us reintroduce a successful product with an ingenious design and superior performance."
The 16-ounce ingenuiTEA teapot is available in gourmet and health food stores and online at www.adagio.com.
