A specialty chemicals supplier, Clariant has signed a long-term agreement with KitoZyme, a biopolymer producer, to provide innovative white biotechnology products to meet the needs of the personal care industry.
Based on the agreement, KitoZyme’s full range of sustainable and cost-effective biopolymers for personal care uses will be offered under Clariant’s brand names: Velsan, Zenvivo and Vitipure.
The new line of biopolymer products is derived from vegetal source. The resulting by-product valorization indicates that the new products are cost-effective and environmentally-friendly. The new Clariant biopolymers are produced from non-GMO, renewable and traceable fungi, which are by-products of the food and biotech industry. The materials comply with ISO9001: 2008, HACCP and GMP standards.
KitoZyme’s CEO, Hugues Bultot stated that the development of new industrial processes using the biorefinery concept is a trend in the White Biotech industry. The biorefinery concept enables white biotech firms to offer more sustainable and eco-friendly solutions. KitoZyme’s proprietary processes allow production of efficient ingredients in a highly safe, reproducible and cost-effective manner. In addition, they offer double benefits of by-product valorization.
The collaboration with KitoZyme helps Clariant to become a technology ingredient supplier with a wider product portfolio, new technologies and sophisticated sensoric differentiation. The biopolymer range ensures innovative solutions to clients for cosmetic formulations and also guarantees superior quality of the Chitin-Glucan and Chitosan polymers.
