Huntsman, a worldwide manufacturer and distributor of differentiated chemicals to a wide range of industries, has planned to expand the production capacity and capability of multifunctional epoxy resins.
As an initial step, the company has started a comprehensive engineering study, which is worth multi-million dollars, at its facility in McIntosh, Alabama. This phase one expansion will enable the company to better serve the existing and future needs of the composite and aerospace industry customers. Once the expansion is complete, the new line will further increase production of all the varieties of multifunctional epoxy resins globally.
In 2011, Huntsman Advanced Materials has made significant investment for expanding its capability and capacity to manufacture multifunctional epoxy resins in Europe and the U.S. The company has also improved its existing capability to produce purified resin materials at its McIntosh facility. Major reasons for capacity expansion are growing demand for multifunctional resins as an alternative to aluminum and other materials and the future requirements of the aerospace sector.
James Huntsman, President of Advanced Materials division, commented that the investments will provide great value and benefit to their global customers by helping them to handle certain engineering challenges in the production of lighter and more efficient materials.
