Market research website, Research and Markets has announced the release of, “Assessment of China’s market for Advanced Ceramics,” report for the year 2010. The study covered the second, third and fourth quarter of 2010 and focused mainly on six large scale industries that are the final users of advanced ceramics.
Some of the companies included for the purpose of the study were the Aokerola Group, Saint-Gobain, Dalian Insulator, Zibo Xinnaida Refractories, Shandong Gold Phoenix Group and Carbo Ceramics. The market for advanced ceramics in China has grown by more than 15% due to the strong presence of steel and chemical industries.
China is responsible for mining 90% of the world’s rare minerals and is a popular exporter of fine ceramics. Advanced ceramics possess various additional properties as compared to regular ceramics used in crockery, such as toughness, resistance to corrosion and electricity, high refraction, bio-chemical inertness and strength. Due to the presence of these properties, advanced ceramics are being used for various structural purposes apart from being largely used for electrical applications.
According to Den Barlow, who is the senior analyst responsible for this study, the cost of advanced ceramics is expected to rise in the future due to various factors such as growing costs of raw material, additional focus on environmental pollution and saturated production levels. Current research and development is focussing on green production and widening the range of applications, on which advanced ceramics can be used.
