Goodfellow, through its ceramics division, Technical Glass, has announced the availability of Superwool® 607® HT™, a range of versatile, high-temperature, fibre-based insulation products that are safe to use and retain their outstanding properties even at elevated temperatures. This alkaline earth silicate (AES) material has the added advantage of providing superior insulation in minimal space.
Safe-to-use alternative to traditional fibre-based insulation
Historically, fibre-based insulation products have often been accompanied by health issues associated with their use. However, Superwool® 607® HT™ was developed as a safe-to-use alternative material with low biopersistence, meaning that inhaled fibres are rapidly removed by natural processes within the body.
Outstanding properties for a wide range of industries and applications
In addition to this important safety feature, Superwool® 607® HT™ has outstanding properties that make it ideal for use in the glass, ceramic, and petrochemical industries as well as in foundries and civil construction :
- Very low thermal conductivity, for maximum energy savings in minimal space
- Low shrinkage, which avoids hot spots and reduces costly maintenance
- High classification temperature (1300˚C)
- Good strength
- Thermal stability
Applications for Superwool® 607® HT™ high-temperature insulation materials include:
- Kiln linings
- Heat treatment furnace linings
- Ladle and trough covers
- Heat containment
- Boiler walls
