Huntsman, a global manufacturer and distributor of differentiated chemicals for a wide range of industries, is expanding its research and technology capability by establishing a new technology centre in the Asia-Pacific region.
The company will invest about $40 million to construct the Asia Pacific Regional Technology Center (ATC) in Shanghai. The facility will support the rapidly growing demand for advanced technology and innovation through the region.
The construction is anticipated to begin in January 2012 and completed in mid-2013. The new ATC facility will include offices, laboratories and machine halls. The Shanghai unit will complement current technology centers in Brussels, Belgium and The Woodlands, Texas and other smaller regional centers. The facility will replace the existing center located close by and part of it will be rehabilitated into an auditorium. As a whole, an integrated technology and innovation site will be formed.
CEO of Huntsman-Asia Pacific, Anthony P Hankins stated that the construction of the new center signifies the company’s commitment to meet the customers’ demand by offering highly effective and efficient solutions. Huntsman’s technology center will support innovation in the rapidly growing industries in Asia, including development of new energy-saving materials for significant industries.
