PPG Industries has signed a new supply and service agreement with Universal Display for organic light-emitting diode (OLED) materials.
Based on the agreement, PPG will continue to be the exclusive manufacturer of phosphorescent OLED (PHOLED) materials for Universal Display. In 2000, PPG and Universal Display have partnered to commercialize and produce Universal Display’s proprietary PHOLED materials. The new agreement will replace this existing OLED materials supply and service agreement of both the companies. The new agreement will continue till December 31, 2014.
SVP of PPG’s optical products and specialty materials division, Rick Elias stated that the company is committed to producing Universal Display’s proprietary OLED materials to meet the increasing market demand. PPG focuses to deliver the innovative products to the evolving OLED display and lighting markets by investing in its facilities and workforce, while maintaining high-quality production standards and cost-effectiveness.
Universal Display is a leading provider of high-performance phosphorescent OLED materials and technology that provides efficiency nearly four times greater than that of the conventional OLED technology. PPG manufactures the PHOLED materials and is marketed by Universal Display to several global manufacturers of consumer electronics. The materials are used in OLED displays in multi-media players, cell phones and other devices and they are also used as a main element in the promising OLED lighting products.
